It is finally JULY!!! Holy man, I thought June was never going to end. It was the last month of our second quarter, and Woah, it seemed to go on forever. In the first part of quarter2, we were in North Carolina. We weren’t able to get out and do much with restrictions in place, so we made the most of it. We took walks every day as long as it wasn’t raining and played lots of games together. We were able to spend Easter with some of my family in North Carolina. But, if you have followed us at all on INSTAGRAM, then you know we have been on the move a lot. We left North Carolina, has Hubby got a job contract closer to home. So, in less than 48-hours, we had the apartment packed and loaded, and then we headed home. After spending roughly a little over a week in Wisconsin, we headed out for a visit-family-vacation in Indiana. My sister would be there from Kansas, and she hadn’t yet met our bird, so of course, we had to be there. We spent ten days there visiting with family and friends and then returned home. Upon returning home, we had a welcome home committee of a black bear, and he wreaked havoc on our patio. We have also celebrated six months with our little Bird. She has been a wonderful distraction, and she indeed makes it known she is around, especially during our school time.
Despite all of that traveling, we still managed to stay on track with our goals for the quarter mostly. What fell behind was our lunchtime read alouds. Enter back in youtube and audiobooks! We finished up the Narnia series on Youtube, and then I started finding audiobooks. We listened to The One And Only Bob, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We finished up this quarter listening to Guinea Dog. We are patiently waiting for the books of the Ramona series to become available for our next quarter.
Moving along in our study of the 50 states had us traveling right forth until we paused in Wisconsin to take a month or so to study it more in-depth. Between waiting on tourist material, and our Indiana travel, we had to postpone this study until the last week of our quarter and should finish up at the beginning of the next.
Supplemental Saturdays are always a hit with the girls. We have studied Pablo Picasso and did portraits and 2-face portrait projects. Throw in some Mothers Day drawings, and that’s about all we were able to do this quarter. In music, we studied Couperin, Clark, Vivaldi, and Bach.
We get to now stay home through the summer and into the fall and winter. We are looking forward to more outdoor time, going to church again, and hanging out with the family. We will also be getting back involved with our local homeschool groups. School should flow nicely, with maybe fewer interruptions. Either way, we are still on track for the year.
