We have begun the second part of our study of American history. We began by our study with a look at William Wilberforce, who helped pave the way for the abolishment of slavery in England. Then we turned to America and the abolishment of slavery and the build up to the Civil War. We moved on to post war reconstruction and the Barron’s and rise of inventions and innovations. I read aloud to her Caddie Woodlawn, Across Five Aprils, and The Great Turkey Walk.
She has been soaking up a lot of good readers this quarter. Like last year we added in books from the American Girls historical readers. This quarter she has read Marie Grace and Cecillie, Kirsten, Addy ad Samantha. She also read quite a few books from the readers in Core E from Sonlight. She read Freedom Train, Turn Homeward Hannahlee, Great Horn Spoon, Shades of Gray, and Sing Down the Moon. In grammar, she started book two Robin Hood from Fix It Grammar.
We ended up being able to finish All About Spelling Level 4 before we left Wisconsin, and she also finished Structure and Style (their older version) before we left as well. I have waited to start the next level of spelling and the All Things Fun and Fascinating) IEW theme-based writing) once we are settled in North Carolina.
She picked back up in MUS Delta with learning division. So far, she has mastered dividing by 5, 3, 9, 6, and 4. She has also learned about parallel and perpendicular lines, area of parallelograms, and area of triangles.
Mouse has been very crafty and created this quarter. She finished a latchit kit and has been busy making rubber band bracelets for friends and family.
Next quarter we are looking forward to more and more books (as always). I’m also gearing up for and excited to see where writing will take us next quarter as well.
