This Alternative Book Reports Bundle contains 19 Alternative Book Reports. For, 1-page Summary Bonus Pages are included.

 

Each book report contains a Student Instruction Page, Rubric Cover Page, and Rubric.

Bundle Includes:

Alternative Ending-Epilogue (has three student levels)

This book report has three levels, allowing you to differentiate it to fit your different students' needs. Each level has its own student instructions, cover rubric, and rubric reflecting the requirements.

Students are asked to recreate the ending of the Book or offer an epilogue to find out what happens to the characters of the Book they just read.

Persuasive Letter (includes student planning page)

Students are asked to write a persuasive letter recommending the Book they have just read. They are asked to complete different requirements for each paragraph in their Letter, which makes the recipient want to read the Book.

Comic Book (includes planning page, 4- template pages, and one elements page)

Students are asked to come up with a brief sketch of their novel in comic/graphic novel form. They will be challenged to be creative. They are asked to stay true to the story and the characters within and follow a basic plot diagram to complete their comic strip.

Character Diary (4 diary page templates)

Students will Imagine a diary written by the main character from their Book. They will create some diary entries that their main character might have made. These entries can help add insight into why certain things from the story may have happened the way they did. Students will also follow along with the suggested guidelines listed.

Alphabet Book (book template)

Students will create an alphabet book based on a book they have read. Students are required to come up with a representative item for each Letter of the alphabet to create this Book. They are also required to provide an illustration or picture to represent each Letter.

Movie Poster (upper and lower levels available)

Students will create a movie poster to represent a book they have just read. There are two levels available for this book report. The lower level is designed for students with lower-level writing abilities. The upper level requires more writing as it also requires the students to write a description of why illustrations or elements were included on their movie posters. There is a rubric for each level.

Book Cover Redo (student example given)

Students will design and redo the book cover of a book they have read. Students can get creative on their own and draw and illustrate a new cover for their Book. They are required to include a book summary rating and must write a review on the book cover.

Design a Cereal Box Alternative Book Report (student example and templates available)

Students will design and create a cereal box based on a book they have read. Students can get creative on their own and draw or place pictures to design their cereal boxes. Alternatively, they can use the included page templates to write on and then cut and paste to their empty cereal box.

Bookmark Book Report (template included)

Students will create a bookmark as an alternative to a traditional book report. 

Character Autopsy Book Report (student template, planning pages, and example available)

Students will create a character autopsy as an alternative to a traditional book report. They are instructed to use thirteen different body parts/areas of the body to provide information about their character.

Pizza Slice Book Report (template available and bonus presentation rubric)

Students will create pizza as an alternative to a traditional book report. They are instructed to use six slices of pizza, with each slice giving different information about the Book they have read.

Imagine a Setting Book Report (example available)

Students will create a picture of how they imagine the setting of their story looks. After creating their image, they will write a brief description of why it was included in their picture.

 

One Page Book Summary

Students will fill out a legal-size paper with pictures and information from the Book they have read. They will choose a minimum of three of the five things listed to include on their paper. They are challenged to fill all of the space on the paper and not leave any white space.

TimeLine (2-levels, planning page, and templates)

Students will create a timeline based on the main events that happen in their Book. There are two levels of student instruction available (varied amounts of events and length of writing to differentiate the two levels), along with rubrics to match each level.

Pack a Bag (2 sets of rubrics and planning page)

Students are asked to pack a bag with objects that represent either the character from their Book or a significant plot or theme from their Book. They will then either write a written report explaining the significance of these objectives or give an oral report. Rubrics are included for both Oral and written reports.

 

Lined Book Profile (3 Template pages)

Students will divide a legal size paper into 7 sections and complete a book profile based on the elements within their novel.

*Map the Setting

Students will get creative and map out the setting of their book, and then write out the significance of these places.

* Character Profile

Students will examine the main character of their book.  They must complete 8 different elements on their poster in relation to the character and their book.
